Making motherhood easier

The mother states, "Overall, I credit baby wearing with making it easy to develop a deep closeness with my daughter, and also making it easy to deal with motherhood. My experience using the sling has caused me to continue gathering information on baby wearing in our culture and in others. My goal is to try to pass this information on to others who may not be aware of the convenience for parents which baby wearing gives. They also need to know of the benefits for the baby. I have a close friend whose three children are grown and gone from home. After she saw how the sling works she was saddened because slings weren't around when her kids were babies. She would have loved to use the sling."

It doesn't matter how many people in the family get involved in the baby wearing; it will usually benefit everyone in the family. Parents need to know that they do not have to feel guilty about holding and carrying their babies. Human infants have a need for lots of human contact and for motion.

Like breast feeding, baby wearing has lasted through the ages in other societies. It is making a comeback in our culture as research continues to show clearly all of its benefits.
